The NGA unites specialists, researchers, and companies working with gemstones and jewelry. The Association promotes quality standards, organises conferences and educational programmes, and supports scientific research and professional collaboration.

The NGA professional community enables the development of a unified strategy, coordination of efforts, and addressing the challenges of the gemstone and jewelry industry in Russia.

Gemstones travel a long path from extraction to the consumer: mining, cutting, jewelry manufacturing, wholesale, and retail. Gemmologists work at every stage of this chain.

Today, the jewelry industry requires proper positioning to address the threats of counterfeits, synthetics, and misleading information for consumers.

Similar to the professional association of jewelers, gemmologists recognized the need for a professional community allowing the development of a unified strategy, coordination of efforts, and addressing challenges for everyone involved in gemstones and jewelry. This community became the NGA.

The need for cooperation with foreign institutes became particularly evident in 2015. On December 8, 2015, at the meeting of the Alumni Club of the Gemmological Center of Moscow State University, it was decided to create a professional community. On April 25, 2016, the NGA was officially launched.

The Association provides opportunities to find partners, expand networks, protect domestic producers, promote interests nationally and internationally, establish contacts with international colleagues, conclude cooperation agreements, and manage professional inquiries.
