On October 6, 2025, as part of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Jewelry Industry Today and Tomorrow,” an exclusive off-site programme was held at the Kaliningrad Amber Combine – the world’s only industrial enterprise where the legendary Baltic amber, succinite, is extracted from the Earth’s depths.

Conference participants were immersed in a unique environment where amber reveals itself not only as an aesthetic phenomenon but also as an object of scientific interest, preserving millions of years of natural history.

A particularly striking experience for the participants was the descent into the open-pit mine, where they witnessed the amber extraction process first-hand.

The awareness of the age and formation conditions of amber allowed tour participants to perceive it not merely as a souvenir or a popular gemstone, but as a unique time capsule – a witness to the geological history of the Earth.
