The Gemological Center of Moscow State University has developed a new document format for exceptionally valuable gemstones – the Premium Expert Report. Such reports (Premium Reports), issued by international laboratories, are gaining increasing recognition in the gemstone market. The first such document was prepared by the Laboratory of the Gemological Center of Moscow State University for the jewelry company Parure Atelier, for a unique natural emerald weighing 21.76 carats from the Malysheva deposit (Urals).
The decision to issue this report was based on the fact that this gemstone, in addition to its substantial size, possesses a combination of intense color and high quality. The study of its properties confirmed the Ural origin of this emerald. Ural emeralds, mined since 1930, have earned worldwide renown. Today, emeralds from this deposit are becoming increasingly rare.
The GemCenter of Moscow State University Premium Report is issued for exceptional, unique gemstones at the discretion of the laboratory.
It contains both standard gemological documentation data and expert commentary on the stone, including color grade, clarity, cut quality, carat weight, origin, and other distinctive features.
The Premium Expert Report consists of three parts:
- A comprehensive gemological report with full stone characteristics;
- High-quality photography;
- A descriptive section explaining the uniqueness of the specimen and highlighting its rarity.
At the discretion of the laboratory experts, the premium report may also include additional information, such as photomicrographs of the stone’s internal features, spectroscopic data, and chemical analysis results.
A QR code on the report links to a dedicated page for the stone, where the document can be verified and a high-resolution video of the gemstone can be viewed. The Premium Report is issued in a branded blue folder. Now, for the first time, such documents for unique gemstones are also available in Russia.
