On December 16 and 23, the latest final qualifying thesis defenses were held for students who had completed the Professional Retraining Programme in Gemmology.
Over three semesters of study on an individual schedule, the students mastered both the theory and practice of working with gemstones. During their classes, they studied unique mineral collections amassed by the educational center over 30 years.
Eight graduates presented their work on a variety of topics – we would like to share some of them: “Challenges in Determining the Origin of Corundums from Madagascar and Sri Lanka,” “Mineral Color and Color Modification of Gemstones,” “Underwater Diamond Mining,” and “Specifics of Determining the Market Value of Rubies and Sapphires.” These works represent a “key” to addressing the key challenges facing the jewelry industry.
